The most compassionate, caring staff where dignity and respect is our Mission Statement at all times.
Martin's Funerals - something old, something new - a landmark on the horizon; a light tower in the dark of the night.
Martin and Annalize Piek, together with their two children, Martilize (now Du Preez) and Wjm, started their journey into the unknown world of the funeral industry on the 1st of November 1989.
For the first few months, it was a near thing and then they got their first funeral service ... and they had no hearse! There and then, Martin took the initiative and rebuilds a second hand trailer into the first hearse of its kind! As family vehicle he used his one and only brick coloured Mercedes Bens, 230!
With empathy and compassion they started to share with many a family. From a one-man business, Martin started to build his dream of a Martin's Funerals which will be the best and a leader in the funeral industry. His dream knew no boundaries and he wanted to share it with other people. At the end of 1998, Martin started with the idea of franchising. He also, then, became the first successful franchised funeral business in the world! During 2008 he was invited, by the International NFDA (National Funeral Directors' Association, America), to attend their Asian Expo in Macau, Hong Kong, as a special guest speaker and ambassador for the South African funeral industry. What a privilege and honour!
At this stage there are more than 105 Martin's Funerals outlets country wide, as well as in Lesotho. At these offices we do everything from preliminary services, funeral services, insurance, repatriations, everything right through to exhumations and after services. "Action springs not from thought, but from a readiness for responsibility." D Bonhoeffer
